Although Don Sumner was a standout goaltender with the Brandon College Caps from 1946-47 through 1949-50, he is also known for his involvement in curling and baseball.
After retiring from a career in education, the former principal in the Brandon School Division spent his time involved with baseball and curling.
He is a long-serving executive member of the Manitoba Senior Baseball League and has been directly involved with all baseball events in Western Manitoba.
Sumner was named to the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997 as a player/builder and member of the Brandon Cloverleafs’ championship teams.
