The former coach of the Brandon College Caps and Brandon University Bobcats has decades of involvement in hockey as a player, coach and administrator.
Jim Mann coached as Brandon College and Brandon University from 1964-65 through 1970-71, then served as assistant coach for the next two years under Wayne Davies.
The former Dauphin Kings’ standout had a tryout with the New York Rangers, before taking over the Bobcat program. Mann is a member of the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame as a member of the Manitoba Softball Hall of Fame,
Most of the years he coached, the teams played in the Southwest League, but entered the Western Canadian Intercollegiate Conference in 1969-70. Their first year was very successful, but the team missed the playoffs by one point.
