Chelsea Plett’s performance in September has been consistent with the outstanding play she’s provided in each of the last three years.
The Neepawa, Man. product has been a starter in her previous seasons and is so again this season. The difference is that on top of being a solid defender, Plett is providing a leadership presence to a young Bobcats squad that has seen much turnover this year.
“Chelsea has once again proven her value as a Bobcat athlete during the first month of the soccer season on and off the field. On the field she plays a 90-minute game with a tenacity and compete level you would expect from a player much more physically opposing than herself. She leaves everything she has on the field, whether it be practice or a game,” says coach Scott Haddow.
“She has always been somebody that led by example through the effort she displayed on the field but her presence as a leader on this team is even more important considering the young group of players we have this year.”
Plett has played every minute of every game so far this season while managing a busy course-load and clinical work in BU’s Faculty of Health Studies as she works towards becoming a nurse.
On the pitch, the Bobcats are currently tied for fourth in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) league standings with CMU.
This recognition of Plett’s play is a repeat occurrence, as she was Athlete of the Month last September.
