Grant Wilson

Grant is the second coach in BU men's volleyball history, for which he had been an Assistant coach since the team's inception in 2005.  Grant is a fully certified NCCP Level III Volleyball Coach and has a Master's Degree in Sport Science with an emphasis in Sport Psychology. He has coached at junior and senior high school levels, winning the AAA Championship with the Neelin Spartans in 1999. Grant has coached in the Provincial Team program as an assistant, capturing a bronze medal with the 2001 Canada Games team and as head coach of the silver medalists Manitoba U18 team in 1999. Grant also started the volleyball program for the Assiniboine Community College Cougars in 2000. 

Internationally in 2006, Grant had the opportunity to be an assistant coach with the Youth Men's National Team. In 2019 Grant was an assistant coach with Team Canada at the World University Games (FISU) in Naples, Italy. Grant was also an assistant coach with Canada’s Next Gen Team that captured a silver medal at the Pan Am Cup in the summer of 2022.

In terms of personal accolades, Grant was named the Volleyball Manitoba Elite Coach of the Year in 2019 and the Volleyball Manitoba Developmental Coach of the Year in 2001.

His achievements with the Bobcats include leading the program to its first Canada West conference title in 2013 as well as a CIS bronze medal that same season. He then let the program to its second conference championship in 2018-19 and a national silver medal that season. The 2018-19 season was also the most successful in program history as the Bobcats reached the #1 ranking in the nation for the first time and kept it for the remainder of the season. Grant has led the Bobcats to 6 Canada West Final Four Appearances since taking the head coaching reins in 2012-2013.

Grant was named the Canada West conference and U SPORTS national Coach of the Year in 2018-19 and was also named Canada West Coach of the Year following the 2014-15 season.
 
In the public school system, Grant taught for 19 years in Brandon School Division, at Harrison Middle School, Neelin High School and King George School.
 
In the community, Grant is a former baseball head coach and is the Director of the Brandon Volleyball Club.
