Simone Turner-Cummer backstopped the Bobcats in spectacular fashion in March, leading the team to another outstanding futsal season. After playing the back-up role in the fall, the Carman, Man. product became the starter for the indoor season and carried the Bobcats when needed most.
Injuries depleted the starting line-up, meaning Turner-Cummer faced many challenging shots and situations which she handled admirably and often times kept the Bobcats in close games.
Turner-Cummer’s play helped the Bobcats to their third straight Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) Final Four appearance.
“This month Simone demonstrated determination and focus to improve her goal-keeping skills,” says coach Rainer Schira.
“She made a bunch of super saves in the final league games and in the playoffs, the kind of save that made the audience go nuts and gave our team added confidence. Without her we would not have made the Final Four,” Schira adds.
