Lauren Anderson led the Bobcats to a solid month in October, and it was the fifth-year forward’s play in all areas of the game that paved the way.
With big wins over Winnipeg and Dickinson State in the pre-season, Anderson started a streak of five-straight double-double performances that catapulted her to the top of multiple stat categories.
The Winnipeg product had double-doubles in two hard-fought opening weekend losses to Manitoba but bounced back last weekend with two more double-doubles on the road against UBC-Okanagan.
“We rely on Lauren to do a lot of things for us, both in terms of on the court and off, as well as statistically, so it’s great that she’s being recognized,” says coach Novell Thomas.
“It’s not just locally either, but I think she’s made quite a name for herself in the conference. She’s a threat to score, to rebound, to pass, and she does all of the intangibles that don’t show up on stats sheets. We’ve needed her to play well and that’s exactly what she has done.”
Anderson’s five-straight double-doubles have her ranking among the conference’s best in multiple stat categories. She is tied atop the conference standings in 3-pt percentage (57.1), tied for first in steals (3.3 per game), second in rebounding (12.0 rpg), second in assists (5.0 apg), and tenth in scoring (18.0 ppg).
