Anthony Tsegakele exploded on the scene this past month and now the secret is out about the rookie's outstanding game.
After averaging a double-double in the first half of the season and putting up some monster individual performances, the Gatineau, Que. product has quickly become one of the most versatile players in the Canada West conference.
What's more is that he's quickly made a reputations for his selfless personality and endless optimism.
"Anthony's energy and passion for the game is evident when you watch him compete each day," says coach
Gil Cheung.
"It doesn't matter if it is an early practice or the last few minutes of a tight game, his effort level does not change. Off the court, I have been stopped numerous times by people at the University, and the community to say how much they have enjoyed meeting Anthony, and his kindness leaves a lasting impression."
Tsegakele already ranks among the best in multiple stat categories. To go with 14.5 points per game, he's first in Canada West in total rebounds (119), third in rebounds per game (11.9) and third in minutes (340).
Tsegakele and the Bobcats begin the second half of the conference season on Jan. 9 on the road against the Regina Cougars.
