Box Score EDMONTON - The Brandon Bobcats women's basketball team started the 2012-13 Canada West regular seaon with a tough road loss, falling 79-33 to the University of Alberta Pandas on Friday night at the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton.

Brandon was led by sophomore Aimee Johnston's 10 points, while Carrera Lamoureux had five points and Stephanie Haynes had three points and five rebounds.

The opening 10 minutes of the game was close, as both teams were making their debut this season. Alberta finished with a 16-11 advantage after the first quarter, but it was in the second and third quarters where the Pandas took over as they combined to outscore the Bobcats 51-9 in in 20 minutes of play.

With the win, Alberta opens the season at 1-0, while Brandon begins at 0-1.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday evening in the Saville Community Sports Centre with tip-off going at 6:00 pm
