Cougars and 'Cats battle at the HLC

Box Score BRANDON – The #3 Regina Cougars extended their winning streak to three games with a 71-38 victory over the Brandon Bobcats Friday night in Brandon.

The Cougars contained the Bobcats for the first five minutes of the game, starting the contest on a 13-0 run before Aimee Johnston hit a three-pointer to put the Bobcats on the board.

Regina didn't let up though, as the Cougars ended the first quarter with a 21-7 lead and out-scored Brandon in every remaining quarter.

Fourth-year guard Michelle Clark led all scorers with 13 points, while Lindsay Ledingham put up 12 points and Brittany Read added 10 points.

The Bobcats were led by Alanna Johnston who finished with nine points. Fourth-year forward Jaynell Gillett finished two points shy of a double-double (eight points, 10 rebounds).

The win improves Regina's record to 18-3 while the Bobcats remain winless at 0-21. The two teams will meet again Saturday night to close out the 2012-13 Canada West regular season.
