Pakhomenko has record setting night at BU

BRANDON – The Thompson Rivers WolfPack answered back from Friday's sweep with a sweep of their own Saturday night over the host Brandon Bobcats 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-22).

Iuliia Pakhomenko was lights out for the 'Pack, having a record-setting match and dominating in just about every aspect of the match.

The import outside hitter had an amazing 26 kills on 44 swings, good for a .477 attack efficiency. Pakhomenko more two-thirds of her team's 36 kills in the match.

Pakhomemko's 26 kills are the most in a three-set match in Canada West history. For perspective, the most in a Canada West league game at BU is 28 kills by
Nicola Dirks of Winnipeg back in February of 2010, which was a five-set match.

Not bad for a performance on her birthday none the less.

For more perspective on Pakhomenko's performance, the next leading attacked for TRU was Kaitlin Lomas with four kills.

The Bobcats were led by Nikki Majewski and Victoria Dakin who each put up eight kills.

The win brings Thompson Rivers' record back to 5-5, while the loss brings Brandon's record to 6-2.

Up next for BU is a weekend home-stand versus the Manitoba Bisons, while Thompson Rivers will welcome the Winnipeg Wesmen to the Tournament Capital Centre in Kamloops.
