OTTERBURNE - The Brandon University women's soccer team will play for the top prize in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference for the first time in program history.
Jaycee Castle led the charge for the Bobcats scoring both goals as BU edged the CMU Blazers 2-1 in Saturday's semifinal.
Brandon's opponent in the championship game is the undefeated Red River Rebels, who blanked the Providence Pilots 4-0 in the other semifinal.
The Rebels and Bobcats finished 1-2 in the regular season standings with Red River running the table at 8-and-0, while Brandon finished at 6-and-2.
In their head-to-head meetings, the Bobcats lost 2-1 on September 13 and 1-0 on September 26.
Brandon is back in the playoffs for the second straight season after losing in the semifinals in their inaugural year in 2014.
Meanwhile, Castle and BU teammates
Natasha Rupa and
Aziza Kinnarath were recognized as MCAC all-stars.
