BRANDON - The Brandon University men's basketball team fell 86-75 against their longtime rival the Manitoba Bisons on Friday night at the Healthy Living Centre in Canada West action.
Justus Alleyn was the top scorer for the Bisons with 18 points as Manitoba extended their winning streak to three in a row.
Keith Omoerah and Wyatt Anders both had double-doubles for the Herd, who improved their conference record to 5-and-2.
Omoerah had 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Anders added 13 points and a game-high 14 boards.
The Bobcats and Bisons went back and forth to start the contest with Manitoba leading 15-13 at the end of the first quarter.
Going into halftime, the U-of-M held a 12-point advantage on the Bobcats.
The Bisons continued to build on their lead and were up by 17 going into the fourth quarter.
The Bobcats tried to rally late in the contest with a 10-0 run with 6:36 left to trim their deficit to nine, but they could not complete their comeback.
Earl Thompson Jr. poured in a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds in a losing cause as Brandon saw their record slip to 0-and-5.
"I think they just played harder then us a little bit," said Thompson Jr. "They executed on some crucial plays."
D.J. Jordan was next with 17 points, while
Tyler Anderson added 13 points and
Troy Grant got 12 points for Brandon.
Saturday's rematch between the Bobcats and Bisons is set for a 7 p.m. start.
