BRANDON - The Brandon Bobcats made quick work of the MacEwan Griffins on Friday night at the Healthy Living Centre in Canada West men's volleyball action.
Â
The Bobcats bounced the Griffins in straight sets behind a match-high 14 kills from captain
Roy Ching.
Â
The set scores were 25-18, 25-21 and 25-21.
Â
Ching also collected four service aces, while adding 13 digs to finish with a double-double as the Bobcats upped their conference record to 6-and-17.
Â
"This is our chance to get a couple of wins and go out on a high point because so far this semester has been a little bit of a slump," said Ching. "It is nice to get one win, but we still have one more game to really show what we can do."
Â
Shane Kerrison led the Griffins with 11 kills, while Ryan McDonald added 10 kills in a losing cause as MacEwan's record slipped to 3-and-20.
Â
James Weir and
Liam Matheson both added nine kills each for the Bobcats, while Weir was also involved in six blocks.
Â
David Stasica topped the contest with 36 assists in the second last match of his CIS career.
Â
Stasica will be honoured on Saturday as part of the senior's night where the Bobcats will recognize the fifth-year setter for his contributions to the program.
Â
Brandon and MacEwan meet in Saturday's rematch 7:45 p.m., which also concludes their 2015-2016 Canada West seasons.
