BRANDON – The MacEwan Griffins earned a weekend split behind efficient shooting from the floor, beating the Brandon Bobcats 98-86 on Saturday.

The Griffins shot just shy of 50 per cent from the field, including 48.3 per cent from beyond the arc in the victory.

Adonis Monfort-Palomino hit all four of his three-point attempts in the first six minutes to set the stage and give MacEwan an early 20-9 lead.

The hot shooting from three continued in the second quarter for the Griffins, as they hit nine of 18 three's in the first half.

The Griffins kept their foot firmly on the gas pedal, maintaining their lead en route to the victory, which improves their record to 4-10 in conference play.

Five Griffins finished in double-digit scoring, led by Thadius Galvez' 22 points. Monfort-Palomino finished with 17, while Denzel James had 16 points. Keith Gerdes was one rebound shy of a double-double (13 points, nine rebounds) and Tyler Wise finished with 11 points.

Earl Thompson Jr. had a season-high 31 points, including 4-5 from three.Â
Tyvon Cooper contributed 18 points, while
Pookie Saunders had 11 points and
Chris Stanhope had 10 points.

The Bobcats now sit with a record of 5-9.
