Box Score Michaela Kleisinger had her third triple-double of the season and the University of Regina's women's basketball team outscored Brandon by a 47-16 margin in the second half as the Cougars pulled away from the Bobcats for a 91-48 victory on Friday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
The Cougars laid the groundwork for the big finish late in the first half as they went on a 10-0 run that helped them go up 12 at the break. Regina scored 12 straight points after halftime to push the lead over 20, and a 19-1 run at the end of the third quarter and the start of the fourth put away the win.
Kleisinger was again sensational for Regina, finishing with a game-high 20 points while also leading all players with 13 assists and pulling down 10 rebounds. Alexi Rowden also had a strong outing, registering career highs in both points (17) and rebounds (14). Faith Reid, Macaela Crone, and Ella Farthing also scored in double figures with 14, 11, and 10 points, respectively.
Bailey Johnson was 6-for-9 from the field and led Brandon with 14 points, while
Adrianna Proulx added 10 as the Bobcats fall to 0-11 on the season.
The Cougars shot just a shade under 48% in the win, hitting 35 of their 73 field goals and going 10-for-33 from three-point land. Kleisinger hit three of those triples, while Reid and Farthing both hit a pair.
The win improves Regina's record to 5-8. The Cougars will go for the weekend sweep on Saturday night at the CKHS with tip-off again scheduled for 6:00.
