Bobcat alum Len Sitter is among Football Manitoba's 2020 Hall of Fame induction class.
He was BU's starting centre from 1967-1969 and a former CFL draft choice of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1970.
Â
Sitter was MVP of the Bobcat football team in 68-69 and served as captain during his time wearing blue and gold. His efforts earned him a spot on the All-Time College Cap/Bobcat football team. Sitter was inducted into the BU Sports Wall of Fame in 2015.
Â
Sitter became Vice Principal, Athletic Director and football coach at St. Paul's High School after his time with the Bobcats. He had three stints as head coach of the Crusaders during the 70s, 80s and 90s. The 1982 Winnipeg High School Football League season was a special one as he guided the club to the program's first-ever championship.
Â
Sitter will be enshrined alongside two Bomber greats. Three-time Grey Cup champion Chris Walby and former CFL division all-star and current club president and CEO Wade Miller.
Â
The 1987 Crocus Plainsmen are also being recognized after becoming the first Brandon team to win the top division in the Winnipeg High School Football League. The Plainsmen were coached by the late Doug Steeves. Steeves also coached Bobcat football and served as Athletic Director. He entered the BU Sports Wall of Fame in 2014.
Â
The induction ceremony is scheduled for September in Winnipeg with 13 individuals and five teams being recognized, including the 2007 Vanier Cup champion Manitoba Bisons.
