The Winnipeg Wesmen stormed to a straight sets win 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-13) to open the home-and-home series on Thursday.
 
The Wesmen were led by Asleigh Laube and Emma Parker who each put up nine kills in the win.
 
Brandon struggled to find a rhythm on offence, hitting .051 as a team on the night, including a rate of -.021 in the second set.
 
The Bobcats got a double-double performance from Rayvn Wiebe which included team-highs in kills (10) and digs (16).
 
The two teams meet again Saturday at the BU Healthy Living Centre.
