Wesmen sweep Bobcats to cap first half of schedule

BRANDON – The Bobcats will look to get back up and dust themselves off after a tough weekend against the Winnipeg Wesmen.

With Saturday's 88-65 win, the Wesmen conclude the series with the weekend sweep and enter the holiday break with momentum.

While the Bobcats were the hottest team in the conference entering the weekend, they now will look to re-group before the Wesmen Classic atthe end of December ahead of resuming conference action in January.

The Bobcats kept it close through three quarters of action but a clutch three from Shawn Maranan late in the fourth iced it, as the third-year guard drilled the basket and went to the line to convert the four-point play.

Both Emmanuel Thomas and Donald Stewart finished with 20 points for the Wesmen while Malachi Alexander finished with 16 points.

The Bobcats were led by Jahmaal Gardner's game-high 22 points. Anthony Tsegakele had another double-double, finishing with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

The Bobcats now sit with a 7-3 record.
