BRANDON, Man. – Another strong start propelled the Manitoba Bisons to a second straight win over the Bobcats Saturday night, taking it 77-52 for the weekend sweep.
Autumn Agar had a game-high 19 points to go with seven rebounds while Keziah Brothers and Laurent Bartlett got it done on both ends of the court.
Brothers finished with 14 points, four boards and three steals while Bartlett had 12 points, eight assists, and six rebounds.
"I'm really proud of the entire team for the way they worked this weekend," said Bartlett.
"It feels good to get two wins under our belt, so I think this just gives us the confidence heading into our next games which we gotta win to secure a playoff spot, so this just fires us up to get those wins."
While happy with his team's effort, Brandon Coach James Bambury will look improve on the team's execution ahead of the final stretch of games in the conference season.
"Our effort and our focus was much stronger today. Unfortunately the basketball side of it just wasn't there. Our execution was quite poor and we weren't finishing around the rim and combine that with a hot shooting night for them and that's kinda what it ends up looking like," said Bambury.
Piper Ingalls had some magic to go with her team-high 17 points, as the Moose Jaw product hit a half-court buzzer-beater to close out the third quarter.
Ingalls also had a great lay-up on Brandon's last possession, ending the game with optimism as the team gets set for a bye next weekend.
The team will re-group before back-to-back road trips, starting with the Alberta Pandas on Jan. 27-28 before heading to Calgary to play Mount Royal the weekend of Feb. 3-4.
Next home action for the 'Cats comes on the weekend of Feb. 10-11, in what will be the final regular season action against UNBC.
