BRANDON, Man. – The Bobcats made it three in a row with Friday night's 93-84 win over the UNBC Timberwolves.
Most importantly, the Bobcats continue to improve at the right time, as the team has already clinched a post-season berth and this weekend's action concludes the regular season.
"We're just gearing up for playoffs so we kind of took it as that - a playoff game," said
Dominique Dennis of his team's performance.
"We tried to come in with a playoff mentality, knowing that next week is the real thing so we had to treat it as such."
Fareed Shittu was advertised for the Wolves, with a trio of massive dunks in the first half. UNBC kept it close, trimming the deficit to just one point heading to the fourth, but the Bobcats ran away with it down the stretch to move to 11-8 on the season.
Sultan Haider Bhatti had a team-high 20 points while Jahamaal Gardner wasn't far behind with 19. Gardner also had four assists and five rebounds while
Anthony Tsegakele had yet another double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds).
Shittu had a double-double as well, finishing with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Micah Jesse contributed 19 points and Spencer Ledoux finished with 12.
The two teams meet again Saturday in the second half of the weekend series.
Tip-off at the HLC is set for 7 p.m.
