Elliott Viles took the Bobcats back to the playoffs thanks to his all-star effort. The Adelaide, Aus. product was named to a Canada West first team all-star last week following his outstanding season.
 
Viles finished in double-digit kills in all but two matches in February, including three incredibly hard-fought playoff matches against the Winnipeg Wesmen to close out the season.
 
Viles and the Bobcats finished fourth in the Canada West conference standings in the regular season, an impressive feat considering the team was expected to finish seventh. The team's success this season was thanks in large part to the second-year outside hitter's play.
 
"Elliott's contributions were significant, both in the month of February and over the course of the entire season," says Bobcats men's volleyball coach Grant Wilson. "He helped our team down the stretch by putting opponents under pressure with his serve and his attack efficiency. The awards he's won this year are well-deserved and we look forward to see how he continues to develop an athlete."
 
The athlete of the month honour is Viles' first as a Bobcat, but the conference accolade is his second after he was named to the Canada West all-rookie team after his freshman season last year.
