Box Score BRANDON - The UBC Thunderbirds battled back from a season-opening loss Friday with a 73-64 win Saturday night in Brandon over the host Bobcats.

Brandon battled to an early, but slight lead in the first quarter, then went cold in the second mustering only six points in the quarter, whereas UBC put up only nine points in the third.

The Bobcats battled back mid-way through the fourth quarter, to get back within two points at 59-57, but then the 'Cats shooters went cold and the Thunderbirds ran away with it.

Kris Young led the charge for UBC, finishing with 28 points. Harleen Sidhu put up a double-double (12 points, 14 rebounds).
For the second night in a row, third-year guard
Cassie Cooke impressed, putting up a game-high 34 points for the Bobcats. It was the second night in a row the American import put up 34 points.
Stephanie Haynes was the next highest scorer for Brandon with eight points.
The win improves the Thunderbirds' record to 1-1 on the season, while Brandon falls to 0-2. Up next for UBC is the T-Birds home-opener in which they'll welcome the Trinity Western Spartans for a weekend series, while the Bobcats will travel to Saskatoon for a weekend series against the Saskatchewan Huskies.
