BRANDON- The Brandon University Bobcats overcame a two-set deficit to earn a huge win over the visiting University of Calgary Dinos(18-25, 17-25, 25-19, 25-23, 15-8) in Brandon's Canada West regular season home opener.
Despite losing the first two sets, the 'Cats battled back, with freshman
Nikki Majewski impressing in her first performance in front of the home crowd. The Bobcats took control in the third set before clinching the final set 15-8.
Shanlee McLennan paced the Bobcat attack with 20 kills, one shy of tying the school record. The fourth-year left-side also contributed three blocks and two service aces. Freshman
Nikki Majewski added eight kills and seven digs, with
Jodie Baker adding eight kills and six blocks.
Kate Pexman led the way for the Dinos with 16 kills and three blocks, while Jaylynn Moffatt added 14 kills and three blocks.
The win improves BU's record to 2-1, while Calgary falls to 3-2.
The two teams will go head to head Saturday night at the Brandon University Healthy Living Centre.
