The Bobcats women's volleyball team played their fifth-straight league game that went to five sets, and picked up their third win in the process, beating the host MacEwan Griffins 3-2 (22-25, 15-25, 25-18, 25-13, 16-14) on Halloween night in Edmonton. Despite dropping the first two sets, the Bobcats would not be undone, storming back taking the third and fourth sets quickly before earning a hard-fought fifth set. Every one of the Bobcats league games has gone to five sets so far this year.

The Bobcats started the first set with a 6-0 run before the Griffins showed their resiliency, battling back to take the set 25-22. Dakota Wilson was strong in the opening game with three kills, including one to clinch the set.

Maintaining their momentum, the Griffins opened up a 10-0 lead to start the second set, and continued to control the match running away with the set 25-15 on the strength of Cassidy Kinsella's nine kills in the set.

The Bobcats started the third set with an early 6-1 run and would prolong the match, winning the set 25-18. After posting six digs in the first two sets, Bobcats libero

Nikki Majewski paced the Bobcats with five kills.

Victoria Dakin's and her Bobcat teammates clawed back into the match, as the Calgary native posted seven kills to take the fourth set 25-13.

Heading into familiar territory, the Bobcats and Griffins once again found themselves in a fifth set battle.

In the deciding set the Bobcats jumped out to an early lead, but the Griffins were able to fight back to tie the game at 14 all, but it was not to be as the home team eventually dropped the final set 16-14.

Libero Karly Edgar was named player of the game for the Griffins with 20 digs, while
Victoria Dakin earned the honour for the Bobcats with 13 kills, 15 digs and four aces.

The Griffins and the Bobcats will finish their weekend series Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m.
