BRANDON - The Bobcats came out strong, but couldn't hold on to their early lead, losing 90-82 to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
Brandon took control in the first quarter, earning 15 points to the Huskies nine. They kept their momentum going into the half, but couldn't hold off the Huskies in the third quarter. The 'Cats were outscored in the third quarter 31-19 and couldn't overcome the deficit in the fourth quarter.
Kenonte Ramsey had the hot-hand for BU notching a game high 30 points, three rebounds, and six steals for the Bobcats. He also played 39 minutes during the game.
Earl Thompson Jr. was one board shy of a double-double, with nine rebounds and 20 points.
Dadrian Collins led the Huskies with 23 points and five boards. Mike Scott added 22 points and two rebounds.
Though the weekend didn't yield wins for BU, head coach
Gil Cheung was pleased with how his players stepped up to the challenge of playing without starting guard
D.J. Jordan.
"We did a pretty good job without our starting point guard all weekend. Mikee (Dosado)  stepped up and played great for us and everyone did a good job of adjusting to new roles on the floor. Offensively we're good and we put up some numbers, but defensively we had a couple lapses and that's what needs to be addressed going into practices next week."
The win brings the Huskies record to 6-4 while the loss drops the Bobcats to 1-11.
Next weekend, the Bobcats will travel to UBC to take on the Thunderbirds, while Saskatchewan will battle Regina at home.
