SASKATOON – On the night they hung their first national women's basketball championship banner at the PAC, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies took care of business with an 80-50 win over the Brandon University Bobcats Saturday night.

After leading by just three points to start the second quarter, the Saskatchewan offence turned it on in the next two quarters. The Huskies outscored the Bobcats 27-13 in the second and 22-11 in the third to take a commanding lead that grew to as large as 35.

Saskatchewan turned in its best shooting percentage of the season finishing the night 44.6 per cent from the field, including hitting on 13-of-29 attempts from three-point range.

The Huskies were led by Sabine Dukate's 24 points on 9-of-19 shooting. Libby Epoch contributed to the scoring with 12 of her 14 points coming from beyond the arc. Megan Ahlstrom led Saskatchewan on the glass with seven rebounds.

Keisha Cox, the Bobcats leading scorer this season, matched Dukate with a game-high 24 points. Cox and
Amy Williams each grabbed seven boards for Brandon.
Mikaela Stanton added another 10 points in the game.

As a team finished the night 28.8 per cent from the field.

Brandon will make a short trip to Winnipeg on Thursday night to open a home-and-home series with the Wesmen. Saskatchewan will enjoy a bye next weekend.Â
