SASKATOON – Everything was working for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies women's basketball team as they led wire-to-wire in a 108-30 victory over the Brandon Bobcats on the Ron & Jane Graham Centre Court on Nov. 23.
Â
The 108 points scored was a season-high for the Huskies while their stifling defence limited Brandon to just 30, the fewest points of any team in the conference this season.
Â
Six different players hit double-digits for the Huskies, while their extensive lead for much of the night also allowed every player on the roster to record a bucket.
Â
Sabine Dukate led the way with 17 points in her 19 minutes on the floor with Megan Ahlstrom and Summer Masikewich adding 14 each.
Â
Adrianna Proulx tallied a team-high eight points for Brandon. Also chipping in offensively were
Kylie Weckend and
Chelsea Misskey who recorded 6 points apiece.
Â
Saskatchewan was dominant on both ends of the floor, out-shooting Brandon 56.3% to 17.8% while also collecting 29 more rebounds than the visitors.
Â
A hot start for the Huskies was a sign of things to come on the night as they began the night on a 21-0 run during which they forced four turnovers and made 8-of-11 shots.
Â
While a jumper from Misskey ended the run, the Huskies still led 33-7 after the first quarter of play.
Â
With the lead well established, Saskatchewan was able to rotate through their roster for the remainder of the game and won the three remaining quarters by scores of 21-7, 31-7 and 23-9 respectively.
Â
The victory moves Saskatchewan to 7-2 on the season where they are in a battle at the top of the standings, while the Bobcats fall to 2-5 with the loss.
Â
These two teams will be back in action Saturday night inside the Pac on the Ron & Jane Graham Centre Court.
