Following his outstanding season, Camilo Rodriguez will have one more accolade to add to his already impressive resume.

Rodriguez was named to the Canadian Colleges Athletic Assocation (CCAA) men's soccer all-Canadian team Tuesday, becoming the first in Brandon University history to earn the designation.

"It is a great honour for Camilo, for Brandon University, and for the BU Bobcats men's soccer program. Every time we can have a presence at the national level it helps bring awareness to our program and helps build on what has been established. He has worked hard to improve his game and is very deserving of this recognition," says Coach Glen McNabb.

Rodriguez was named to the all-Canadian team at a special ceremony in Vancouver Tuesday ahead of the CCAA men's soccer nationals.

The distinction comes on the heels of his outstanding sophomore season, in which the Brandon product led both the Bobcats and the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Assocation (MCAC) in scoring.

"Camilo's recognition as the first all-Canadian Bobcat soccer student athlete is a great accomplishment for our program and the MCAC. This supports the team's goals of pursuing a Manitoba Championship every year and the opportunity to compete for a national medal," says BU Athletic Director Russ Paddock.

While Rodriguez and the Bobcats fell just short of the team's ultimate goal of winning a third consecutive MCAC banner and competing at nationals, the star striker was on hand for Tuesday's celebration to recieve the honour in person.

Rodrgiuez earned his first all-conference selection and first league most valuable player award for the 2022 league season, in which the Bobcats went 10-2 and finished second at the league final four.
