WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Wesmen took advantage of the friendly confines of home in picking up a 108-99 Thursday night over the Bobcats.
The Wesmen not only end the Bobcats' seven game winning streak, they also keep a decade-long streak of beating the Bobcats at home.
Brandon trailed early but took advantage of a run to start the second quarter to trim the deficit.
The Bobcats managed to narrow the gap to just three points with three minutes to go in the third and again early in the fourth, but the timely shots just wouldn't fall as Winnipeg put up the team's highest offensive output this season.
Six Wesmen finished in double figures in Winnipeg's first time cracking the century mark this season.
Shawn Maranan had a team-high 25 points. Donald Stewart had 20 points while Mikhail Mikhailov had a double-double, contributing 10 points and 14 rebounds.
The Bobcats were led by
Anthony Tsegakele, as the reigning Canada West player of the week finished just shy of a double-double, finishing with a game-high 26 points and nine rebounds.
Jahmaal Gardner had 21 points, five rebounds and four assists.
The loss drops the Bobcats record to 7-2 while the Wesmen sit at 5-2.
The two teams meet again in the rematch Saturday at the HLC.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
