Timberwolves earn split to wrap regular season

With a playoff spot on the line, the UNBC Timberwolves bounced back for a critical win Saturday night, beating the host Bobcats 90-71.

The win improves UNBC's record to 8-12 on the season and books the team's spot in the post-season.

Following Friday's upset win, the Bobcats couldn't keep pace for the full 40 minutes on Saturday.

The 'Cats played with plenty of heart and intensity for what was graduating senior Chelsea Misskey's final game, but the playoff bound Timberwolves wouldn't be denied.

Sveta Boykova was red-hot for UNBC all night, finishing with a game high 31 points. The Russian import was one of four Timberwolves to finish in double figures, as Rebecca Landry had 17 points while Alina Shakirova and Laura Garmendia Garcia each contributed 10 points.

The Bobcats were led by Reetta Tulkki and Piper Ingalls, who both finished with 18 points.

The Timberwolves now wait to see who the first round opponent will be while the Bobcats conclude the season.

UNBC locks up 12th in the conference standings, one game ahead of Lethbridge who sits at 7-13 after a loss Saturday to Alberta.
