One of the most anticipated soccer seasons is set to get underway at the HLC.

New coaches for both soccer teams will see a new look but the same competitive spirit when the season kicks off.

The Bobcats will look to defend both Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) titles and book a return trip to nationals for the second season in a row, which starts at home in early September.

The 'Cats will welcome the Providence Pilots for the season opener at HLC Field on Sept. 7.

Weekend league games will see the men play first at 1 p.m. this year with the women to follow at 3:15 p.m.

The Bobcats will also play evening games against the Assiniboine College Cougars, as the men will host on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. with the women to play the following night Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 5 p.m. Both games will be played at HLC Field.

The season concludes with a pair of road games against CMU on Oct. 20 before the MCAC Final Four tournament takes place at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex Oct. 24-25.

The Bobcats swept the finals last year and with a renewed outlook on the season ahead, this season promises to be another exciting campaign.

The conference winners book a spot at the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) national championship, in which both BU teams competed last year.

This year's national tournaments will be held in early November, with the women's event being hosted by Capilano College in Squamish, B.C. while the men's tournament will be in Fredericton, N.B.
