Rayvn Wiebe had an outstanding start to the season before reaching new heights in November.
After starting the conference season with a career-high in October, Wiebe smashed her personal best and set a new school record in the process.
Wiebe had 23 kills in the opening weekend of 2019-20 before setting a new BU women's record with 28 kills on Nov. 7 against Winnipeg, surpassing the school record set last year by fellow outside Nikala Majewski.
The fourth-year Morden, Man. product reached a new level with her game this year as she recorded double-figure points in nearly every match in November, resulting in one of the best months of her athletic career.
"Rayvn Wiebe has led us in every way possible – emotionally, athletically and on the scoreboard," says coach
Lee Carter.
"When things are going tough, she was a rock and we knew we could count on her, whether it was in the team room, in practice, in competition, she just rose to the occasion every time and delivered for us. Those are just a few examples of how great of a month she had."
For her outstanding play in the first half of the season, Wiebe now ranks among conference leaders in kills (161) and kills per set (3.43).
The team is now enjoying the December break before resuming action at the Winnipeg Wesmen Classic Dec. 28-30.
Next home games for the Bobcats come on Jan. 3-4 when the team welcomes the University of Alberta Pandas to open the second half of the conference season.
