Box Score The Brandon Bobcats women's volleyball team opened the 2013-14 Canada West regular season with a grueling five-set victory over the Regina Cougars Friday night in Brandon, thanks to a 3-2 (25-19, 21-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-10) win.
The two teams exchanged sets through the first four, but Brandon took the final set thanks to a 5-1 run to close the match.

Brandon was led by
Shanlee McLennan, who finished with her first double-double of the season (16 kills, 14 assists).Â
Victoria Dakin put up 13 kills, while
Alexis Loewen added 10 kills to go along with six blocks.

The Cougars were led by Desiree Ates' match-high 20 kills, while Michelle Sweeting added 16 kills.

Ates was also one of five Cougars to finish in doubgle-digit digs, as the fifth-year outside hitter put up 10 digs. Tori Glynn put up 20 digs, while Leah Shevkenek added 13, Megan Semeniuk made 11 digs and Chelsea Ziolkowski also finished  with 10 digs.

The two teams will meet again Saturday night in the second-half of the weekend series in Brandon.
