Women's volleyball team continues to impress

Box Score WINNIPEG – The #2 nationally ranked Bobcats women's volleyball team continued it's winning ways with a 3-1 (26-24, 22-25, 25-23, 25-18) win over the host University of Winnipeg Wesmen Wednesday night.
 
The Bobcats were slow off the start, allowing Winnipeg to a 20-8 lead early on, but it didn't take long for Brandon to battle back after falling to a deep deficit. The 'Cats scored 18 of the last 22 points in the set to take the first.
 
Winnipeg battled back in the second set, but Brandon put the third and fourth away to take the match.
 
Former CIS libero of the year Donata Huebert continued her impressive play this season, putting up an amazing 35 digs. Victoria Dakin also contributed 30 digs while Shanlee McLennan had 24.
 
Vaovai Aiono had her best performance of the season, registering 17 kills on 52 swings. Dakin and McLennan each added nine kills while Alexis Loewen put up eight kills.
 
Mary Thomson substituted into the match in the first set and made an impact, registering 37 assists to go along with six kills.
 
Loewen also contributed a match-high nine blocks, just one short of what the entire Wesmen roster registered.
 
The win improves Brandon's record to 13-4, while Winnipeg falls to 6-11.
 
The two teams will meet again Friday night in Brandon for the second-half of the home and home series.
