BRANDON - The Brandon Bobcats went cold down the stretch, despite a close game through the first three quarters against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies losing 78-64.
The 'Cats kept it close throughout the game, being down by as few as five points, but couldn't hold off the strong Saskatchewan attack. The Bobcats were outscored in every quarter and were out rebounded 58-39.
Kenonte Ramsey led Brandon with 16 points and three rebounds.
Ali-Mounir Benabdelhak notched a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.Â
Â
Mike Scott had the hot hand for the Huskies scoring 21 points and grabbing seven boards. Ben Baker added a double-double with 13 points and 24 rebounds.
Brandon's evening was made more difficult with the absence of
D.J. Jordan, who is out due to injury.
"We're the smallest team in the league right now," head coach
Gil Cheung acknowledged. Â As a result, two Bobcats played 38 of 40 minutes in tonight's game.
"That's the story of the last year, the last couple of years, really. We're not a bad team, we hang around and do the right things. Our boys work hard and remain competitive throughout the games, but we're lacking depth on our bench and we struggle with mental clarity and decision making, so hopefully tomorrow night we can improve and continue to hang around," Cheung added.  Â
With the win, the Huskies improve their record to 5-4, while the Bobcats fall to 1-10.
Both teams will face off again Saturday night at the Brandon University Healthy Living Centre at 7 pm.
