Bobcats outpaced by Huskies

BRANDON - The Bobcats started strong, but couldn't maintain their pace, losing 76-48 against the visiting #6 University of Saskatchewan Huskies Friday night.
The Bobcats were able to keep the game close in the first quarter, but couldn't maintain their intensity and were out scored in the second quarter 22-13.

Saskatchewan increased their lead in the third and didn't look back, keeping Brandon to only seven points in the fourth quarter. The Huskies notched 55 rebounds, while the Bobcats only managed to grab 29.

Second-year forward Amy Williams picked up her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 boards. Alyssa Montgomery added 12 points and five boards, while fellow import Mikaela Stanton added 11 points for the Bobcats.

Dalyce Emmerson led the Huskies with 15 points and eight rebounds. Kelsey Trulsrud added a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards.
Bobcats head coach Novell Thomas is already looking forward to tomorrow night.

"We have to come back to outwork the Huskies in every aspect of the game," says Thomas. "It's just fight.  It's our will versus their will.  We need to be determined to fight for the next ball no matter what."

The win brings Saskatchewan's record to 6-3, while the Bobcats fall to 3-8.

Both teams will face off again tomorrow night in Brandon.  Tip-off is at 5 pm in the Brandon University Healthy Living Centre.
