Following an outstanding weekend in which he led the Bobcats men's basketball team to a sweep of the Regina Cougars,
Tyvon Cooper has been named the Canada West second star of the week.
Cooper has quickly climbed the ranks as one of the elite guards in the Canada West conference. The 6-foot-1 American import has helped the Bobcats back into the playoff picture this season, thanks in large part to an offensive explosion in back-to-back wins over the Cougars this past weekend.

Game log: Friday, January 20 – 30 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals in 95-91 W vs. Regina / Saturday, January 21 – 25 points, two rebounds and three assists in 95-85 W vs. Regina.

Cooper's double-double on Friday elevated the Bobcats in a hard-fought victory, as he put up 30 points while pulling down 10 rebounds. Not only did he score when needed, but the Middletown, NY product also ran the point effectively, setting up his team mates with open looks, finishing with six assists. Cooper followed Friday's performance with a 25-point night on Saturday.
"Tyvon has done a great job of leading by example," says coach
Gil Cheung. "He is a strong communicator and continues to focus on our teams success, rather than any personal accomplishments. He was instrumental for us this past weekend, and all season long. He's very deserving of this honour."
