KAMLOOPS, B.C. - Chalk up another win for the Bobcats men's volleyball team, but it was far from easy. The Bobcats were pushed to five sets by the Thompson Rivers WolfPack on Saturday but managed to battle back from a fifth set deficit to take the match 3-2 (25-19,22-25,25-22,22-25,15-10).
Saturday's contest was reminiscent of the battles between TRU and the Bobcats of the past, said coach
Grant Wilson following the match.
"It was quite the battle. Back and forth. Both teams took turns being really good. Both teams struggled at times. You didn't know what was going to happen until the very end. Thankfully we found a way to pull it out. It was playoff volleyball a little early. It sure felt like it. That is what we want. We want to be pushed. We want tough matches down the stretch because it is going to be tough. Credit to Pat and his team, they played well,"
Brandon was led by
Elliott Viles 11 kills while
Seth Friesen wasn't far behind with 10 kills.
Reece Dixon finished with a double-double recording 38 assists and 10 digs.
TRU was led by Tim Dobbert's 12 kills while Sam Taylor Parks had 11 and Charlie Bringloe had 10.
Brandon moves to 18-2 on the season while TRU falls to 9-9.
The Bobcats will have a bye next weekend before closing out the conference schedule at home against the MacEwan Griffins on Feb. 15 & 16.
