BRANDON -
William Tonning's time in Brandon has been short, but the import goalkeeper is quickly making a name for himself.
After some out standing performances to start the 2019 Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference season, Tonning has been named the MCAC Athlete of the Week.
Tonning was lights out in last Sunday's road game against CMU, stopping eight out of nine shots on goal, the only goal against coming on a penalty shot.
The win was a big one for the Bobcats in a rematch of last year's league final, as it keeps the Bobcats' undefeated record intact at two wins, no losses and one draw.
"He is a top-quality goalkeeper who is proving that he can be a difference maker and steal games for a young Bobcats team that is adjusting to the pace of the MCAC," said Bobcats head coach Jesse Roziere.
"He has been a leader and a contributor to our team environment and culture. We are looking forward to the heights that William can assist in taking us to this season."
The Bobcats will look to continue their winning ways with an important home game on Saturday, September 28 against the Red River College Rebels.
Game time is set for 1 pm at HLC Field.
