BRANDON, Man. – Individual accolades are rolling in for the Bobcat futsal teams as they get ready to host the MCAC Final Four this weekend at BU's Healthy Living Centre.
 
Import goalkeeper William Tonning has been named MVP of the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference. Tonning displayed veteran poise in net and supplied nine goals on offence for the Bobcats.
 
"It is excellent to get this," said Tonning. "We are close knit and strive for greatness. The guys have been behind me every single minute since I got here, so it is great to get this award for the team."
 
Akim Johnston was named to the all-star team after finishing near the top of the league scoring race with a team-high 11 goals.
 
"It is nice to see how hard work pays off," said Johnston. "I have come a long way and really improved as a player."
 
Bench boss Jesse Roziere has been recognized as men's futsal coach of the year for a third-straight season. He guided BU to a second-place finish in the regular season standings with a 7-2-1 record. Last year, Roziere led the Bobcats to the program's first-ever indoor championship.
 
"It just speaks to what the guys have accomplished," said Roziere. "It is a testament to the group that we have had."
 
On the women's side, Hasana Church was chosen to the conference all-star team after scoring 12 goals during the regular season. Church helped Brandon clinch the final playoff spot with a mark of 4-4-2.
 
"I think being in my third year that I have become more of a leader on the team," said Church. "I think it has shown with my confidence on the court."
