Gardner's triple gives Bobcats huge road win

KELOWNA, B.C. – Jahmaal Gardner broke the heart of the UBCO Heat men's basketball team as he hit a 3 pointer with 1.5 seconds left to propel his Brandon Bobcats to a 90-89 victory on Saturday evening at the Furnace.

The Heat were down nine after the first 20 minutes but a strong second half allowed them to close the gap and give themselves a chance. Lansana Nwosu (Scarborough, Ontario) was the catalyst for this Heat offense as he had a team high 17 points and brought energy to both sides of the court.

Gus Goerzen (Roberts Creek, B.C.) filled the stat sheet for the Heat as he had a team high eight rebounds and three assists while adding two blocks to his 12 points.

The Heat outshot the Bobcats from the field 52.2 percent to 44.7 percent, UBCO's best shooting mark since the 2017-18 season.
