BRANDON, Man. – The Brandon Bobcats enjoyed a bounce back win Saturday night to earn the weekend split with Regina, winning 109-75 Saturday night at the BU Healthy Living Centre.
The 'Cats shot nearly 60 percent from the floor on the night, including a near 60 percent rate from beyond the arc.
Anthony Tsegakele scored 12 points in the first quarter en route to a game-high 33 points, but it didn't come easy as the Cougars managed to keep it close through three quarters of action.
The Bobcats held just a one-point lead late in the third quarter but shot the lights out down the stretch to pick up the first conference win of the season.
Tsegakele finished just shy of a double-double, pulling down nine boards to go with his 33 points, which also ties a career high.
Jahmaal Gardner wasn't far behind with 28 points to go with nine assists and four steals.
The Cougars were led by Matt Barnard's team-high 15 points.
With the split, both teams now sit with 1-1 identical records.
Up next for the Cougars will be a tough test in team's home-opener as they welcome provincial rivals the Saskatchewan Huskies.
The Bobcats will travel to Kelowna for a weekend set against the UBC-Okanagan Heat. It will be the first time the Heat and Bobcats have played in a conference game since November of 2018.
