WINNIPEG – The Bobcats had a strong third quarter but it wasn't enough in the opening of the home-and-home weekend series with Winnipeg, as the Wesmen picked up the 83-46 victory.
The Wesmen started the game on a 13-1 run and didn't let up from there, shooting 43 percent from the floor.
Eden Tabin hit an early driving bucket and team leading scorer
Piper Ingalls drilled a three, but the Wesmen kept on the pressure from the jump.
Robyn Boulanger went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc for the Wesmen en route to her game-high 22 points.
Three other Wesmen finised in double figures. Raizel Guinto had 13 points while Julia Schatkowsky had 12 and Raia Guinto had 11.
Kyanna Giles entered the weekend as the conference's leading scorer but finished with just six points. The senior Winnipeg product was still effective, finishing with a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Bobcats were led by imports
Reetta Tulkki and
Noah Garcia who both finished with eight points.
The two teams close out the weekend series and the first half of the conference schedule at home on Saturday.
Tip-off at the HLC is scheduled for 5 p.m.
