The Cougars were unstoppable once again, taking down the Bobcats 88-67 in what started with a nail-biting first quarter.
Piper Ingalls opened the night with a three-point swish to set the tone, putting Brandon in a favourable position off the bat.
They put up 16 in the first five minutes, a huge improvement from last night when the team only had seven in the first quarter. MRU trailed by seven before calling their first time out.
The opening quarter concluded with the two teams tied 24-24.
It wasn't until the second quarter that MRU seemed to regain their footing, going on a quick 10 point run and putting up their first real lead of the game. Brandon seemingly lost their momentum, and took time to regroup.
Reelta Tulkki broke the silence with a three from the right, bringing her team back to life. Tulkki finished the night with 18.
The majority of action happened under the rim and in the paint, a battle between Brittany Janzen and
Noah Garcia while Tanis Metcalfe was fighting off
Beth Dueck.
MRU stepped up, having a 13 point lead by the halfway mark of the second, but the Bobcats weren't giving up tonight.
Early into the third, Mount Royal solidified their lead, with a 19 point lead after five minutes. They would finish the quarter up 22 over the visitors.
The Bobcats had a huge night on the floor, surpassing their points from last in the first half, and more than doubling it by the end of the game.
Ingalls was an important part of Brandon's squad tonight, leading the team with 19 points and three rebounds.
The Bobcats return home next weekend for a pair of games against the UNBC Timberwolves to conclude the conference season.
