Four Bobcats to join TeamUp initiative in Paraguay

Canadian Men's Volleyball Players Look to Extend Impact Beyond the Court through International Tournament

Four members of the BU men's volleyball team will be joining on-court rivals for international competition and service projects starting next week.

Liam Pauls, J.J. Love, Philipp Lauter, and Paycen Warkentin will be joining members of the TWU Spartans for the TeamUp Cup in Paraguay for a 10-day trip that combines competition and service projects.

"I think it is an awesome opportunity to give back through the sport that has given me so much," said J.J, Love of the opppportunity.

"Volleyball is a lot bigger than just a game, it teaches you life lessons and creates friendships that will last a lifetime so being able to combine competition and community service helps paint the bigger picture of the sport that we are all trying to achieve," Love adds.

The four Bobcats embark on the journey on Monday, joining the Spartan players that are normally bitter rivals. When the opportunity to participate was extended, all four jumped up and started plans for the trip.

Under the banner of TeamUp, these athletes are not only showcasing their athletic prowess on the court but also exemplifying their desire and commitment to make a lasting impact through the power of sports. Throughout their stay in Paraguay, the Canadian players will be actively involved in a series of work projects and sports clinics aimed at uplifting local communities and inspiring the next generation.

Eight teams from across South America will compete against the Canadian roster comprised of Bobcat and Spartan student-athletes.
