Box Score The Brandon University Bobcats women's soccer team suffered their first defeat of the season in a thrilling, high-scoring affair against the Providence Pilots today in Otterburne, falling 4-3 in a hard-fought contest.
The Bobcats faced an immediate challenge, going down 2-0 early in the first half after goals from Providence's Halle Owen. However, the undefeated Bobcats showed resilience and mounted an inspiring comeback in the second half.
Forward Jorja Hoad was the offensive catalyst for Brandon, netting a sensational hat trick to pull her team back into the game. Hoad's three goals came in the 47th, 58th, and 65th minutes, demonstrating incredible determination and keeping the Bobcats' hopes alive. Unfortunately, Providence managed to find the back of the net in crucial moments, including a late goal by Owen in the 90th minute that sealed the victory for the Pilots.
Despite the loss, the Bobcats showed fantastic fight, especially in the second half, proving they can match the intensity of any opponent. The women's team's record now moves to 5-1 on the season.
The Bobcats will have a week to regroup before returning home to the HLC field next weekend. They will host CMU Blazers on Saturday and Assiniboine Cougars on Sunday. Both games will be played at HLC field.Â
