WINNIPEG - The University of Winnipeg Wesmen finished the 2012 Pembina Chrysler Tournament undefeated. Winnipeg defeated the Brandon University Bobcats 79-64 Saturday night at the Duckworth Centre in Winnipeg.
Three Bobcat players finished in double digits led by
Jordan Reaves and
Kenonte Ramsey with 19 each.
Ilarion Bonhomme had 11.
Turell Scott led Brandon on the boards with nine.
The first quarter saw both teams put on an offensive display. The teams were tied at 22-22 after the opening 10 minutes of play. Each team knocked down three-three pointers and shot over 40% from the field. Brandon was 9-of-16 (56%) to open the game.
Both teams tightened up their defensive play in the second quarter. Winnipeg outscored Brandon 17-11 to carry a 39-33 lead into the halftime break.
Brandon outscored Winnipeg 23-21 in the final quarter but the Wesmen lead was to much to overcome making the final score 79-64.
The contest was the final pre-season contest for the Bobcats who now prepare to open the 2012-13 Canada West regular season on the road next weekend against the University of Alberta Golden Bears.
