Bobcat Triple Threat:

Basketball and Men’s Volleyball Punch Tickets to Post-Season

BRANDON – It is officially playoff season in the Wheat City.

The Brandon University Bobcats are preparing for a busy February, as the Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, and Men's Volleyball teams have all clinched berths in the 2025-26 Canada West Playoffs.

With the regular season winding down, the playoff pictures have come into focus, setting the stage for high-stakes matchups starting this week.

Men's Basketball: Showdown with the Bisons After a hard-fought regular season, the Bobcats men's basketball team (8-11) has secured their spot in the conference tournament. They won't have to wait long for action, nor will they have to look far for motivation.

The Bobcats are set to face a familiar foe in the Canada West Play-in Round: provincial rivals, the Manitoba Bisons. The single-elimination "Game A" matchup is scheduled for Thursday, February 12 at 5:00 PM PST (7:00 pm CST) and will be hosted at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Led by standout scorer Sultan Haider-Bhatti, averaging over 20 points per game, and rookie sensation Munroop Gill, Brandon will look to turn the page on the regular season and make a run in the tournament bracket.

Women's Basketball: Regina Bound The Bobcats women's basketball team is also dancing in the post-season. Following a competitive campaign, Brandon has locked in a Play-in Round matchup against the UBC Okanagan Heat.

The Bobcats will head to the host University of Regina for their win-or-go-home contest, which is slated for Friday, February 13 at 2:00 PM CST.

The team is eager to rediscover the high-tempo groove that sparked their success earlier this year with the trio of Piper Ingalls, Macaya Copeland and Ella Averill leading the charge.

Men's Volleyball: Clinched and Closing Strong While the basketball teams head straight into playoff brackets, the Men's Volleyball team (7-11) heads into the final weekend of Canada West regular season action with the pressure of qualification off their shoulders.

Currently sitting in 9th place in the conference standings with 22 points, the Bobcats have mathematically clinched a spot in the Top 10 and could still finish as high as 6th, guaranteeing them a place in the post-season. Brandon's focus now shifts to seeding and momentum.

The Bobcats, fresh off a gritty five-set battle against the Alberta Golden Bears where Tom Friesen tallied 18 kills, will close out the regular season on the road. They travel to Winnipeg this weekend to face the Wesmen on February 13 and 14, looking to fine-tune their game before the playoffs begin.
