BRANDON - The #1 Alberta Golden Bears came into Brandon Friday night and played like the top-ranked team in the country, beating the host Brandon Bobcats 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23).

The Bears big three all finished in double-digit kills, led by Mitch Irvine's 15 kills while Jay Olmstead had 12 kills and Tristan Aubry finished with 10 kills. Aubry also finished with a match-high .643 hitting percentage. Fourth-year setter Jarron Mueller had a match-high 48 assists.

The Bobcats were led by Sam Tuivai who finished with 20 kills on 39 swings (.308 hitting percentage). Roy Ching finished with 13 kills. Garrett Popplestone had a team-high 38 assists.

The win keeps Alberta's record perfect as they sit atop the Canada West standings at 15-0. Brandon falls to 10-5.

The two teams will meet again Saturday night in Brandon.
