In a back and forth game that saw seven lead changes, the Saskatchewan Huskies were able to come away with a 68-65 victory over the host Brandon Bobcats Friday night in Brandon.
This was the third home loss for the Bobcats by three points or less this season.
The Bobcats stormed out of the gates to an early 19-6 lead after the first quarter, but the Huskies answered right back, playing without star guard Stephon Lamar for much of the second half. Ben Baker led the Huskies with 19 points, while Matthew Forbes and Evan Ostertag each put up 12 points. Patrick Burns pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds.
The Bobcats were led by fourth-year forward
Jordan Reaves who finished one rebound shy of a double-double (team-high 19 points, 9 rebounds), while
Ilarion Bonhomme had 18 points and
Michael Smith had 13 points.
The win give the Huskies five in a row, improving their record to 10-4. The Bobcats fall to 3-11 on the season.
The two teams will meet again Saturday night in Brandon. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
